You’ve got to marvel at the sheer genius of Google’s marketing arm for making such a compelling video out of such an old idea.

Remember the Network Computer (1997) or the Thin Client (1993)?

This time it may work, of course, now that we have the required bandwidth to the home.

There is also a small difference. When it was first proposed, it was meant to be controlled by our friendly fellows from the IT department. No choice. No freedom. “We decide for you.” “You run the corporate software, we store OUR corporate data.”

Now… now I’ve got choice. A lot more choice. That’s the right way to do things.
